Vodice is situated near Šibenik, the centre of the Šibenik-Knin County. You can reach Šibenik from Vodice after only a ten minutes’ drive by car, unless you want to take a boat to Šibenik. There you can find the beautiful Šibenik Cathedral of St. James, which is the most significant architectural achievement of the 15th and the 16th century on Croatian soil. Because of its exceptional value, in the year 2000, the Cathedral was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.We also recommend that you visit some of Šibenik fortresses: St. Nicholas, St. Michael (St. Anna), St. John and Fortress Barone (Šubićevac Fortress).

National Park Kornati

Kornati ArchipelagoTake the opportunity to visit the National Park Kornati as well. This amazing archipelago is unique in its beauty and attractiveness and there is none alike in the European or international seas. Simply, there are no cliffs, headlands, islands and bays like that anywhere in the world - a true promised land for sailors.

Kornati are the untouched oasis for those who want to enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water, untarnished nature, and where they can relax in the healing solitude and strengthen their souls before returning to reality.

Kornati consist of 147 islands, holm sand cliffs with the total area of 69km2 and are spread across the sea covering the area from Dugi Otok to Žirje of 320km2.The National Park comprises 89 islands with a total area of 220km2. Kornati archipelago was named after its largest island - Kornat.

In comparison with the southern coastal line that hasa sharp descent into the sea, northern coasts are more diverse and more accessible. There are no running waters on the islands, which are covered with scarce plants – bushes and grass. Numerous archaeological findings evidence that Kornati were populated already in the prehistoric times.

Krka National Park

Krka National ParkThe Krka National Park was proclaimed as such in 1985, as the seventh national park in Croatia. It is situated entirely within the territory of Šibenik-Knin County, and covers a total area of 109 km2 along the Krka River: it includes two kilometres down the river, between Knin and Skradin, and the lower reach of the Čikola River.

From the flooded part of the mouth on, the Krka River is about 72.5 kilometres long, which makes it the 22nd longest river in Croatia. The spring of the Krka River is at the base of the Dinara Mountain, 3.5 kilometres northeast of Knin and 22 meters below Topoljski slap, Veliki Buk or Krčić Slap, which is a noisy waterfall in the winter but runs dry during the summer.

The length of the fresh water river stream is 49 km, and brackish section is 23.5 km. The important tributaries of the river are Krčić, Kosovčica, Orašnica, Butišnica and Čikola. With its seven travertine waterfalls and a total fall of 242 meters, the Krka River is a natural and carstic phenomenon.

Island Prvić

Boat race on the island PrvićPrvić is an inhabited island situated in the Šibenik archipelago, about half a mile from the mainland, near Vodice. On this island there are two typical Dalmatian fishermen's villages: Prvić Luka and Prvić Šepurine, connected by 1-km long road. The island was inhabited in ancient times already, thus ancient, late antique and historical Roman remains were found below the Church of the Nativity of Virgin Mary. Picturesque bays and coves attract swimmers looking for solitude and peace in the beauty of nature.

Both resorts on the island are protected by the Croatian Ministry of Culture as a national cultural heritage. The island is known as the island of Faust Vrančić - scientist, historian, linguist, and philosopher, mathematician and physicist, who lived in the 17th century, but was born in Šibenik and spent his childhood on the island. He died in Venice, but he had wished to be buried on the island, in the Church of St. Mary of Grace in Prvić Luka.

Nature Park Vransko jezero

Nature Park Vransko jezeroIf you go from Vodice towards Zadar, you will see a natural phenomenon of two equally beautiful and yet so different blue surfaces. Indented Adriatic coast known for its appealing beauty and clearness on one side and the biggest natural lake in Croatia on the other.The park is spread across the land between Pirovac and Pakoštane.

The dominant feature of the park is a special ornithological reservation which has been, due to its preserved features, included in the list of important ornithological areas in Europe (Important Bird Areas in Europe).In the cane of the Natural Park, bird lovers can have an unforgettable experience while secretly observing nesting of birds and their caring for the young.
